Five months ago, I started programming. Prior to that, I already had a pretty good idea about the type of work life I desire and after quite a bit of research, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that a career in technology was for me.

Dear readers, it is my sincere hope that my reasons give you that final push you need to get into tech.

1. The tech industry is vastly creative and innovative

Originality, Creativity and Innovative thinking are highly valued in the tech community. The greatest techies are those with brilliant ideas that can be brought to life.

2. A vast range of opportunities

You do not necessarily have to know how to code to access various opportunities in this space. Tech roles include product design, technical support, product management, technical consultancy, business analysis, web development, technical sales, network engineering, technical writing, system analysis, etc. There are lots of opportunities for both developers and non-developers.

3. Financial freedom

Tech jobs continue to dominate the list of top paying jobs each year. There is an increasing workforce demand in the technology field and salary figures keep rising yearly.

4. A computer science degree is not mandatory to land a job in technology

Skills are much more valuable in the tech space than a degree. There is too much work to be done in tech for it to be limited to only those with a CS degree.

5. Tech is flexible

It is quite easy to switch between roles in the tech industry. An open mind and a renewed determination to learn new skills are basically all you need.

6. Aligning other passions with tech

You can actively pursue other interests of yours while still in tech. Infact, you being vast in other areas increases your chances of knowing how best to use technology to improve on service delivery in that sector.

7. Work on anything anytime from anywhere in the world

With the right skill set you can work on anything anywhere right from the comfort of your room.

8. Tech is Collaborative

Contrary to popular opinion, techies do not work in isolation. Team work skills are very much needed to come up with the best products.

9. Programming is fun

Last, but definitely not least. I really enjoy making software; bending CSS (Cascade Style Sheet) to my will is my "Jutsu"๐Ÿ˜.

If you are motivated by making a difference through innovation, or you could really do with the extra cash; or just genuinely curious, then you should take a step in the right direction by starting your tech journey.

Find what interests you about technology today and go from there! ๐Ÿš€
